TWD: Not So Mocha-Walnut Bundt Cake

It is no secret that I don't care for coffee-flavored food. Sure, I enjoy my cup of coffee in the morning, but this has become a recent development. I remember when I first got married that I couldn't stand the smell of Nathan's coffee in the morning. I think what changed my mind is the fact that I now have two children and wake up at 430 in the morning to work out before they wake up. I NEED that caffeine fix!

With that being said, I really wanted to try this bundt cake. It sounded fantastic! The dark layer calls for espresso powder and 1/4 cup of coffee. I substituted 1/4 cup water and 1 TBSP cocoa powder. Mmmmm... a walnutty vanilla & chocolate swirled cake. Delicious!

I loved this cake and will definately make it again! Plus, after making this, I have decided that I really need to buy more bundt pans. There are so many great ones out there!

Thanks to Erin of When in Doubt... Leave it at 350 for hosting this week. The recipe can be found at her blog.

This cake sounds like it is a hit with a lot of people! I would make it with the coffee myself (being I'm such a coffee lover!) :)
Looks great Cristine!

I don't "do" coffee stuff either. But made this using hot water instead. It was pretty good cakes. I made minis.

Having a giveaway on my blog until Wed.

Sounds like I should have tried it with the substitutes. I never would have thought to use water for the coffee though. I'll have to keep that in mind for any other mocha recipe that comes up! Great work--looks delicious!

I don't do coffee at all so I like your changes. I also need/want more bundt pans. I have a 6 cup pan in my Amazon shopping cart as we speak.

I don't know if I told you that I hate coffee in any thing except a coffee cup, nice and hot.

Your cake looks wonderful. I bet it tasted great with your adaptations. I'm not a huge fan of coffee flavored sweets either but this one wasn't very strong.

LOL, you don't like coffee but you drink it? :) I guess I would too if I had to get up at 4:30am.

I skipped the coffee too and also added water and some cocoa powder. I thought this cake was really delicious - definitely a keeper :) I'd love to get more bundt pans too but there's no where to store them!

Nice job on the cake! I like coffee flavored desserts, but extra chocolate sounds yummy too. 4:30 AM? Yikes!

I love that you substituted water and cocoa for the coffee in this cake. I liked the mocha, but I'd be really interested to try this with just the chocolate flavor. I'm glad you enjoyed this dessert!

I used to get up at 4 to go running before I went to work. Back when I was still running. :}
